When Angela arrives home early, an argument soon leads to a physical struggle and Angela knocks Tessa down the stairs. In an intensely difficult family meeting, they decide with the help of Tessa’s therapist to have an intervention. Benny, Tessa’s brother is a momma’s boy, but soon realizes with the help of his African-American wife, Deeva, that his mother is also a racist. When things escalate between mother and daughter, the dad, brother and sister-in-law soon have to choose sides. Tessa recalls different sessions with her therapist, Dani, in rehab and sees it is her responsibility to at least attempt to be civil. It is soon obvious at her welcome home dinner that the source of her issues is and always has been her mother who is an alcoholic in denial. He was then moved to explore other playwriting ideas and has now completed twenty two plays in the past two years. In 2016, he wrote his first full-length piece, an adaptation of Robin Hood which he directed as outdoor theatre at his high school. Theatre of the Highlands, produced 18 separate productions in as many years, fifteen of which he directed and performed in with his wife, Tammy as vocal director and co-star.Įugene has always had a love of playwriting and has written musical reviews and short plays for students for years. It was also during this time that Eugene co-founded a community theatre with his wife and another couple. Although he was named after Eugene O’Neill, he does not write anything past 2 and half hours long.Īfter receiving a Masters in Education, he taught for 23 years and produced, designed and/or directed over one hundred pieces of theatre.

He worked in and out of professional theatre in Chicago and its environs and finally settled on becoming a teacher full time. He and his siblings enjoyed hours of creative play that led to school plays, community theatre, and eventually college for acting and directing.
He was the twelfth of fourteen and the youngest male. His father was a professional actor and his mother a former opera singer. Member of Dramatists Guild Of America and AUSTIN FILM FESTIVAL SEMIFINALIST, Eugene was born into a large, artistic family.
